Top Davao bowler dies in Iloilo and beer still overflowing at Dover Lanes

Rey Morales, one of Davao City’s top duckpin bowlers, was laid to rest over the weekend.

Davao City Bowlers Association (Daciba) President Ninfa Daclan said that Rey died of cardiac arrest while playing in Iloilo.

Rey,  she said, in a previous tournament was already experiencing chest pains.

But Rey was a very competitive bowler.

His luck just ran out this time.

Dover Lanes President Bong Vergara was among those saddened by the death of the outstanding bowler.

Bong’s advise, stop smoking, just keep on bowling.

But Bong, the beer is still overflowing since I started covering the sport in 1992.

  1. Rey Morales was the best bowler I have ever known. He was one of the top bowlers for so many many years, before I was born (1979). His name will always remain important in the bowling community.
