The 7th Acosta Cup is a commitment by former councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta to promote women’s football and is sponsored by Jollibee, RDL Pharmaceuticals, and CBS Metalcraft. She personally awarded the trophies and medals to the winners .  She is assisted by Davao FA president Rafael “Pops” Vilela.

Davao vs Singapore tchoukball games start Monday

THE RP-DAVAO TCHOUKBALL TEAMS WILL TRY TO TEST THEIR STRENGTH AS THEY FACE THE VISITING SINGAPORE TCHOUKBALL TEAM REPRESENTED BY THE  CROSSLINK TCHOUKBALL CLUB @ THE DAVAO CITY RECREATION CENTER (FORMERLY ALMENDRAS GYM), MONDAY, STARTING @ 8:00 AM.

The visiting Singapore Crosslink Tchoukball Team will be headed by Mr. Jeff Ang, Secretary General of the Tchoukball Association Of Singapore (TBAS) and currently the head coach of the Singapore National Tchoukball Team which placed second behind powerhouse Chinese Taipei in the recently concluded 4th Asia Pacific Tchoukball Championships in Singapore last July, 2010.

 

The teams playing in the friendship games are RP-Davao Men’s team & RP-Davao Juniors team. Also the RP-Women’s team will be having an exhibition game.

 

Coach Bliar T. Cuares, PTF Vice-President for Mindanao said that “this will be a good tune up games for our local teams against  the visiting Singapore team in preparation for upcoming 1st Philippine Open Tchoukball Championships which will be held here in Davao City on January 28-30, 2011.”

The First Philippine Open Tchoukball Championships will be participated by powerhouse Chinese Taipei, current world tchoukball champion and champion during the 4th Asia Pacific Tchoukball Championship held in Singapore last July, 2010. Also participating is Team Singapore, currently ranked 4th in the World Tchoukball Federation; Team Malaysia, currently ranked 3rd in the Asia Pacific Tchoukball Federation and Team RP-Bacolod City which will be fielding one Men’s Team and two (2) Juniors team.

A day after the Philippines formally bowed out of the AFF Suzuki Cup with a two-nil aggregate to Indonesia, the country’s national football association can celebrate the declaration of the world’s highest football governing body upholding its new leadership.
