F.Bangoy National High’s Danilo Engay Jr. came up with a better tie-break score to win the 25th edition of the Blue Knight Chess Club-Davao Sports Council Inc. Under 14 Rapid Chess Tournament, Saturday, at the BKCC along Bonifacio Street.
Engay bested Austin Jacob Literatus of Don Juan dela Cruz Elementary School, 16 to 13, after they both tallied four points, apiece.
John Ray Batucan, Literatus’ teammate, landed at third place while Neptali Batucan of Doña Carment Denia National High School finished fourth placer.
Barging in the Top 20 were Mary Israel Paero of Holy Cross of Davao College, John Gerard Acedo of Jose Maria College, Nikki Erica Yngayo of Davoa Central College, John Leonard Ricarse of Monserrat Camp School, Rowelyn Joy Acedo of Jose Maria College, Cristy Grace Ngo of Piedad Elementary School, Alvin Acas of Magallanes Elementary School, Raymondwil Mirantes of Kapt.Monteverde School, Denzel John Amar of Magallanes, Mark Isaac Bernadas and Kyle Henry Ricarse of Monserrat, John Cloyd Oria of Sped Bangkal, Zsusza Grace Tabudlong of Kapt.Monteverde, Althea Marie Jayme of Monserrat, James Bantugan of Doña Pilar Learning Foundation and John Cloyd Resma of Precious International School.
Rowelyn Joy Acedo of Jose Maria College ruled the 24th DCSC-BKCC U-12 Club Rapid Chess Tournament for Class A, held over the weekend, at the Blue Knight Chess Club along Bonifacio Street.
Acedo posted five points to win the tournament by two points over first runner-up Daniel Rome Borinaga of Doña Pilar Learning Foundation, Inc., second runner-up Alvin Acas and third runner-up Denzyl John Amar of Magallanes Elementary School, and fourth runner-up Raymondwil Mirantes of Kapt.Tomas Monteverde Sr. Elementary School.
Barging in the top 10 were Mark Isaac Bernadas of Monserrat Camp School, Cloyd John Oria of Sped Bangkal, Christine Mae Garces of Montserrat, James Rhey Bantugan of Doña Pilar and Lloyd Matthew Resma of Precious International School of Davao.
The tournament was organized by the Blue Knight Chess Club in coordination with the Davao Sports Council Inc. with the support of Councilors Peter Laviña, Rachel Zozobrado, Bonifacio Militar, Diosdado Mahipus, Danilo Dayanghirang, Edgar Ibuyan and Louie Villafuerte.
