P4.5-M KDJM races on Sunday

HE Klub Don Juan De Manila (KDJM) Derby unwraps on Sunday (Oct. 2) at the San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park (SLLBP) in Carmona, Cavite, featuring the country’s top gallopers.

Top favorite Magna Carta, owned by Leyte Mayor Sandy Javier with ace jockey Jessie Guce at the helm, will be challenged by 11 gallopers disputing the P1.5 million top prize from the total pot of P4.5 million tossed in by Resorts World Manila, Don Antonio Floirendo Sr., David Chester of Magic Millions of Australia and Instone Asia.

Jun Almeda’s Golden Empire, fresh from winning the fourth leg of the Philracom Juvenile Colts, leads the field in the Juvenile Colts Race, while recent fillies winner Humble Riches from the stable of Kenneth M. Causon heads the KDJM Juvenile Fillies. Both the Colts and Fillies races are set at 1,400 meters.

“We expect interesting battles in this year’s edition of the races” said KDJM president Ferdie Dimaisip and Director John Lagasca.

Magna Carta’s top challengers include Lord of War, Triple Crown first leg winner Hari ng Yambo, Cheese Mosa and imported runners Dona Nenita and Senyora Nenita of the Floirendo Stable in the race that gives P300,000 to the runner-up, P150,000 third-placer and P60,000 fourth-placer.

The 1,900-meter Don Antonio Floirendo Golden Girls Stakes will spice up today’s schedule, with eight horses featured led by My Hope, Rain Shower, Botbo, Lucky Find, Dancing Gissele, Denise Song, Rain Shower and Santeria. The winner gets P300,000, second-placer P112,500 third-placer P62,500 and fourth-placer P25,000.
