TriAD’s Iron KIDS rule SUPER TRI KID’s CUP

A convoy of vehicles from Davao City trooped to the City of Golden Friendship, Cagayan de Oro, on the cold Saturday morning of November 29.  The Triathlon Association of Davao’s (TriAD)Team Davao was headed and mentored by the International Triathlon Union’s (ITU) Level II Competitive Triathlon Coach Alexander Sam.  He proudly announced that in spite of the short notice, the TriAD IRON KIDS exceeded expectations when they raked in the medals in their respective categories last weekend at the Super Tri Kids Governor’s Cup 2009 hosted by the Cagayan de Oro Triathlon Philippines as sanctioned by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP).
 
Eduard Moritz Leuenberger of Ateneo de Davao University ruled and stayed in the lead the whole time in the 7-8 boys category of the 50m Swim-1K Bike-200m Run sprint race at the Pelaez Sports Complex over the weekend.  Older siblings Elise Martha (9-10 Girls) and Katrina (13-14 Girls) grabbed the bronze medals in their respective categories.  Davao Christian High School contenders Denise Faith Uy-Garcia dominated the 13-14 Girls division of the 300m Swim-7.5K Bike-2.5K Run.  While younger brother Kurt Thomas who pulled ahead in the bike leg finished with a Silver Medal.  12 year old Ignatian Akira Michico Lumanlan-Sam of Colegio de San Ignacio cruised to the top of the podium as he brought home the gold after besting the 11-12 boys category this year.  The Team was supported by Boondocks Cycle, Everflex Electricals and Swimzone Swimming School.(Alex Sam)
