SANMAN drubs Goldstar, 100 – 88 in RRD-SZD/Araw cagefest

Sanman subdued Goldstar Hardware, 100 – 88 in the resumption of the Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Sara Duterte – 72nd Araw ng Dabaw Basketball tournament Sunday night, March 8, at the jam-packed Calinan Gym in Brgy. Calinan.

The selection of Arman Sañano bounced back from a disappointing opening game setback to level its win-loss record at 1 -1.

Jade Edulan top scored for SANMAN with 23 points, including a three pointer that embarked a scoring spree in the early going of pay off period.

Erickson Galacgac chipped in 17 markers for Gaichay Guirigay-mentored SANMAN which lost to Agro Sailors in the opening game of the tournament presented by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Vice Mayor Sara Duterte in celebration of the Araw ng Dabaw.

Goldstar dictated the tempo at the start of the second but went in trouble in the last period to absorb its second straight defeat. Bullstrong forward Lendy Dawal had 21 points for Goldstar.

Cafort Reyes and Edgar Awitin also played well for SANMAN contributing 16 points each. Philippine Health Insurance notched its second consecutive victory by trouncing Operation Iraqi Freedom/MATS Navigators, 119 – 109.

John Amatosa top scored for Philhealth with 25 points. Jeff Bajinting added 18 markers. Rhandel Colina and Marvin Poloyapoy had 20 points apiece for OIF coached by come-backing Dodong Cagampang.

Two games are scheduled on March 10 at the Crossing Bayabas gym in Toril featuring Agro against OIF/MATS at 6 p.m. and PhilHealth vs. SANMAN at 7:30 p.m.

The commercial B basketball event is one of the many events lined-up this month by Araw ng Dabaw sports committee chairman Christopher “Bong” Go.
