Tibor Marcelino banked on his familiarity of the course to emerge over-all gross champion in the 3rd Pomelo Tee Invitational Golf Tournament, recently, at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.
Marcelino fired a 74.
Sharing the honors too was Mark Oropeza whose 94 gave him the over-all net title.
Bayani Garcia scored a 73 to win the gross title in class A while Bobby Wee submitted an 86 for the net crown.
Leo Yap finished the round with a 60 for the class B gross crown while Victor Co’s 84 was enough for him to take the net title while Paul Puyat’s 52 gave him the class C gross top honors and Susumo Yamaguchi submitted an 88 en route to winning the net title.
Glenn Yap was the only hole-in-one winner while Bayani Garcia received a special award for the longest drive contest at 284 yards.
In the team event, Jon and Steven Tan combined for 181 for the net title while Marcelino teamed up with Christopher “Boyet” Tan for a 131 and the gross crown.
Jing Tan and Peter Baruis collected 173 to take the first runner-up honors, followed by the Manuel Licup-Andres Caro II tandem with 168, Ho Bong Kang and Manuel Eser with 166, Raniel The and Rey Masing with 164.
Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club manager Jose Albert Casenas, sports committee chairman Jaime Tan and director Vicente Santos awarded the prizes to the winners of the tournament also presented by Davao Corrugated Carton Corp., Sta.Lucia Realty and Development Inc. with the support of South Pacific Golf and Country Club, Royal Caribbean International, Yamaha Golf Cart, Mitsubishi Motors-Kar Asia, the Philippine Sports Commission and Land Bank of the Philippines.
